It doesn’t matter what idea you come up with, Jos is a master of thinking along. He is a good sparring partner and combines his practical (material) knowledge and creativity to the max. The possibilities and impossibilities are discussed together with the customer, this way an optimal result is achieved. Jos has built an attic with us in the style of our house, gave our kitchen a complete make-over and designed and made a cupboard wall in Moroccan style. In addition, he does not shy away from the rougher work, such as in our case making a walk-in shower and installing a wood-burning stove with a flue gas channel. We had & still have the pleasure to work with Jos for several building- & furniture projects. His communicative skills involves besides speaking also concerning listening to your needs. Both our fincas, one where we live and the other as a luxury rental finca, are mostly styled and constructed by Jos.

We have been able to do several projects at home and on our rental Finca with Jos. We find him extremely professional, creative and also a true “artist”. He is also a great partner to spar with if you encounter problems during a renovation or want to create a special project! He often has the ideal solution and does not shy away from a challenge! A few years ago we asked Jos to renovate our bathroom. Our question was very practical: we wanted a bath in our moderately sized bathroom. Jos has informed us expertly about the layout and also about the choice of material. In addition to the knowledge that Jos has, he is also very pleasant to deal and co-operate with. And that is a rare combination in DIY. He communicates well about the progress of the renovation, is very reliable, and has an eye for detail, discussing what strikes him and providing ideas about improvements or solutions. In short, you can let him work in your house without any worries. And he also works very efficiently. The old bathroom has been quickly transformed into a new one with a bath. And the best part of all is that it is now not only more functional, but also more atmospheric. Because as a surprise Jos made a beautiful bathroom cabinet for us with authentic Spanish doors. We are still very happy with our new bathroom, and would certainly ask Jos again for the next job!

Renovation of a toilet would be a simple job but ours was a real challenge to deal with due to unexpected problems. But trail worker Jos was not going to lose track. Leakage due to broken off old lead pipes in the floor above the toilet ceiling, old pipes with a diameter that no longer existed, etc. etc. First he tackled the leak, that meant installing a new drain for the shower and sink. What a reassurance to discover that he is so versatile and skilled, an all-round professional, who knows how to find a solution for everything. He also really needed that quality here, because quite a few problems came up to the last minute on the fifth day. But the result is impressive, he has done it all. Besides the fact that he is very professional, his strength lies in listening carefully, thinking along and, above all, moving along to find a solution together. In short: Jos is a skilled creative and careful professional.

Renovating a bathroom: full of ideas and inspiration, I invited Jos to discuss which of my plans were possible within budget. Jos immediately came across as a pleasant, reliable and knowledgeable person. Explain, think along, solve and be open to other solutions; in one word craftsmanship.

When I asked Jos to make a frame for my painting, he set one condition: freedom. I know better than anyone how important this is, that you get the space to really tune in to something, that is how the most beautiful creations are created. So yes, he got that freedom. And that also resulted in something great! A beautiful made frame made of stone panels wood and rough brushed blank steel. The painting hangs freely in it. Despite the fact that Jos did not know what the theme of this painting was, he gave the canvas exactly what it needed with this design; freedom. It couldn’t have been more beautiful.

Jos has already done many projects with us and always to our complete satisfaction. Jos is creative, collaborative and visionary. Jos is at his best if you dare to let him go his own way. If you want to decorate your house, B&B and get something special, out of the box, then you have to work with Jos.

Jos made a wooden pergola on our roof terrace of the Malaga Beachhouse. We are very happy with the elaboration of this. Jos is really a professional and has good styling ideas. Thank you very much Jos!

Jos saw our house and the spaces and ideas started to flow. He gave us fantastic good advice and we finally gave him a free hand. We live nicely there now, everything custom made. For a long time I looked forward to owning a custom made industrial look metal wall unit. No Spanish contractor was found willing to do this. I came into contact with Jos via friends. He elaborated on my basic ideas, gave me additional tips, ensured perfect execution for an agreed price. I enjoy my furniture, I am very satisfied with it.

We have been living in Spain since September 2008 and have since deployed Jos for various activities, including: repair of our roof; making an authentic Spanish shelter over a door; the construction of a water supply for the kitchen and the construction of a swing.

My name is Andrea, I’m 32 years old and live in The Hague. Four years ago I had my house rigorously renovated by “a few males” and I was very disappointed. Stealing and destroying belongings and a slow, ignorant way of working prompted the premature termination of this renovation.

Half a year ago – after this traumatic experience, I can say – I dared to hire someone new again, because my bathroom had to be completed, among other things. Through a mutual acquaintance I ended up at Trailworks. A relief! I have never had such a good feeling with a construction company. Jos is someone you can safely let go.

In addition to his knowledge, experience and reliability, Jos is a creative person with a great sense of style. Especially in an old house (like mine) with its irregularities and often illogical layout, he is the right man. Jos finished my bathroom and did a lot of finishing jobs throughout the house. He listens carefully to your wishes, looks at the situation and comes up with creative solutions that suit you and the house. Jos works quickly and always puts your interests first. Moreover, he inspires to new ideas!

We had been planning to replace all electrics for some time. This had never happened in the approximately 70 years that our house is old. The lead water pipes did not suit us either. All this would mean; open ceilings, open walls and open floors. So we would have to hire someone who would make that neatly closed again. Let’s see: hire an electrician, a plumber and a plasterer and then hope that it can all be coordinated. We found this to be too cumbersome. Fortunately we got to know Jos, a real all-rounder. Once we had seen his self-restored (now ex-) home, we knew: we must have him. We can safely say that we have made a very good choice.

Besides the fact that he can do everything, he also thinks about a lot of details. He comes up with the most practical solutions, such as an extra hall for the washing machine and a sink in our case. Jos’ strength lies in restoring the style of a house. Where previously there were no panel doors, there are now. Jos always manages to get some old copies somewhere. What is also very pleasant is the fact that Jos works very neatly and cleanly. We could continue to live at home during the renovation, because he left everything tidy every day. In short: highly recommended!

In January 2003 we asked Jos van der Burg to convert a shoe store into a hair salon. Because Jos is talented in all areas and we are aware of his ability, we have placed all responsibility in his hands.

First, the old shop was dismantled, including two old chimneys, which meant that the roof also had to be restored to its original condition. All pipes for electricity, gas, water and the sewerage were laid, part of the flat roof and the roof covering were renewed and a skylight was installed.
Jos was also responsible for plastering and insulating. Actually, all work was performed by him. When it turned out that the pipes for the upstairs apartment had to remain accessible, Jos even designed a special ceiling that is attractive and functional.
And after all this hard work, we could open!

Because the collaboration was so perfect, we asked Jos to convert the top floor from a shoe warehouse into a beautiful apartment.
And we succeeded …… a room transformed into a kitchen with all the trimmings, a wall cut out and the door frame installed so that a beautiful passage was created to the balcony, bathroom installed and much more.
Eventually, a beautiful, attractive apartment was created where once there were only boxes.

The experience with Jos during these two jobs was so good and I was also very satisfied with his craftsmanship, that I commissioned in January 2004 to place a fireplace in my house, which he placed with the same craftsmanship and the same creativity.

For me he is the right person for a renovation job.
